A day for mostly hanging out. Prof. 'Hamish' McSorensen, Bill Bodden and replyhazy put on a good Bob Shaw-esque 'serious scientific talk', about the scientifically correct number of staples in fanzines. I admire the way Ian can think on his feet and show a fair degree of wit even at 10am with little sleep. The day was capped with Andy Hooper's play "Read And Enjoyed, But No Content" about friendships and feuds in an apa running from the mid 70s to late 80s. Rather enjoyable and slyly funny, with the audience having to guess at intervals who would be leaving the apa next; the fan with the most correct guesses wins the Large Chocolate Prize, shared by Ted White and a couple of others who guessed correctly six times out of seven. In between was spent mostly chatting here and there and meeting more people for the first time, ending for me at 2am with a busy room party in the con suite. 18 small postcards from the edge:
